Meet Lilia Ahner

In San Francisco two days before I moved to Tennessee I had the pleasure of meeting Lilia Ahner at the Mixer for the SF Dream Wedding Giveaway. She is the official photographer for the contest and the $100,000 wedding that is given to a lucky couple.

I saw her walking around that night in October (and knew her name on the wedding circuit) so didn't want to interrupt her work as she shot frame after frame. I am so grateful she introduced herself because I may have been to nervous to bother her! With her red streaked hair and friendly smile she said she wished Haute Horticulture was around when she got married because she loved the Punk Rock Table theme I had created. That made my month!!!
Last night I was contacted by a fan of Rock and Roll Bride as she had seen the photos of the Punk Table on Lilia's Web Site. I had no idea (shame on me)! The photos were linked as part of a "Thursday Treats" segment on the Rock and Roll Bride site. What an honor!

If you are looking for a photographer in the Bay Area and have a rebel heart and rock attitude, then Lilia is your girl. Truth be told, it you are looking from any location Lilia is willing to travel worldwide. Now THAT's service! She and her husband Ray make quite a team. With Ray's expertise in shooting rock bands and Lilia's in everything from design to fine art, you have all the bases covered with this dynamic duo. By the By: This month you will find Lilia's work in Grace Ormonde's Blog, and Bird in a Cage Bride.

I have a feeling that our paths may cross again, but in the meantime I want to thank Lilia for all she has done for Haute Horticulture. True. Talented. Creative. Lilia.

Meet Linda from Wink Photography

I'd like to start a new feature on the blog to highlight some of the talented people I have had the privilege of meeting and working with during my events.

The first photographer that I met this year is the super friendly and talented Linda Ozaki from Wink Photography. She took these (and many more) stellar shots from the Mad Hatter Tea Party in March of 09'. We made an instant connection and she was able to get me comfortable enough to pose for head shots in May. That's not easy to do!

About Wink:

Wink Photography’s distinctive style is fresh and modern with a trace of Nostalgia. Emphasis is put on creating genuine images that tell your unique story. My philosophy is simple…capture moments that matter!

And Linda does just that. She is a Santa Cruz resident with a super chef for a husband and a love for cats that makes me proud. Linda is down to earth and easygoing, but still hyper focused on her work. How does she do it? To find out give her a call for anything from maternity shots to head shots, family portraits, and of course weddings and events.

Thank you Linda for making the world a better place with your work and my website full of fabulous floralscapes!

Wine and Cheese

The other day I had the pleasure of visiting my friends at Testarossa Winery in Los Gatos. Molly and Leigh will take good care of you should you decide to have an event there or just go for a tasting from 11am-5pm. I will soon be posting the professional photos that took place at Testarossa in May. The already lovely and ecstatic bride and groom are enhanced even more by the rustic backgrounds outdoors at TW.

In the meantime I offer a sample of the wine and cheese colored arrangement that was inspired by the winery. The flowers that compliment and flow from the copper urn include: dahlias, pincushion protea, mini callas, super green roses, green celosia, and a few stems of dendrobium orchids.

Cheers!

Style, Spray, & Shadow

For the opening gala at Bouquets to Arts, my model Sonia found Maria Lee to do our hair and to do Sonia's makeup. Maria did a wonderful job especially on Sonia's eyes. My hair didn't move much all night which is exactly what I requested. Long hair has a tendency to get in the way if you don't fix it just right and Maria was able to reign it in.

I recommend her especially if you love the shading and texture of Sonia's eyes and her spunky hair up-do in the photo.
